Just Pink Flamingos

There needs to be a way for people to easily vent frustration over the poor job our politicians are doing in Washington. And conversely, there needs to be a way to show our appreciation when they show a bit of backbone and actually protect our interests instead of those of the special interest groups. A case in point would be the recent voting on health care by the lady Senator from Maine, Olympia Snowe. She broke ranks with her own political party and voted from her heart and for what she thought was best for her constituants, and not along party lines or for what was best for the insurance industry. I confess that I do not know if any back-office deals were made, but I do know that as a conservative person and a prior staunch Republican, I was impressed by her actions.

Her reasoning was sound and I am sure the political pressure to try and sway her vote was enormous. Though I do not agree with her 100%, I would be proud to call her my senator. To me she exempifies the American tradition of country first. I hail from the political and financial shipwreck that is California, and I assure you I cannot recall the last time one of our career politicians showed this kind of moxie. Short of an occasional venting to our senators or congressmen and women through e-mail, there is little that I or anyone else can do or say that really gets our point across. I believe I have a solution that not only allows us to grade the people we pay to represent us, but adds a bit of levity to the scorecard. And let’s face it, in California we need all laughter we can get after being nearly bankrupted by our free spending politicians and overrun with illegals immigrants.
